Modern Farmhouse Bathroom Remodel

I have been waiting sooooooooooooooooooo long to write this post. Bathroom remodel phase three has come to an end (spoiler alert: there is a phase four still to come).

Before

Phase One: The floor. We ripped out the square beige tiles with almost zero effort required. That explained the issues we were having with cracking and loss of grout. We replaced them with this gorgeous gray wood grain tile from Lowes. We also painted the room Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter.

Phase Two: The toilet nook. We replaced the old round bowl toilet with an American Standard Vormax Plus from Home Depot. We added floating shelves from Hobby Lobby and styled with accessories from Hobby Lobby and Target.

Phase Three: Vanity wall. The bathroom previously had a single bowl French country style vanity. The space was exactly 72” so we got this amazingly beautiful double bowl vanity from Costco. It’s called the Chandler by Mission Hills. It doesn’t appear to be available right now, but I found a few on Amazon with a similar look:

The top of mine is Quartz, but it looks like marble. True confession: I thought it was marble til last week 😂🤦🏻‍♀️. We added shiplap to the wall above the vanity. It was our first time working with shiplap and I thought it went really well. We used MDF shiplap from Lowes. It comes primed white. We painted all sides before we put it up form moisture resistance and then painted a final coat after puttying the nail holes.

The mirrors and the faucets are both oil rubbed bronze and we found them at Lowes. The lights are Westinghouse from Amazon (two light version we used*: https://amzn.to/39fEEtS but also available in single light*: https://amzn.to/3nXhIUk or triple light*: https://amzn.to/3fwJJz5). We spray painted the bottoms white (Rust-Oleum Universal Flat White*: https://amzn.to/3nVC28p) because we didn’t like the gold color they came in. Decor, as always, via Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, and Target 🙌🏻 If you’re avoiding in person shopping these days like I am, here’s a link to buy some cotton stems from Amazon*: https://amzn.to/33eJbc2

Phase Four: The shower. As over the moon as I am to be done this part of the reno, we still need to retile the tub surround. I would love a marble subway tile to match the quartz vanity top, but I’m still undecided. Pleaseeee tag me in any tub tile inspiration you think would match this bathroom. Also, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want links to any products we used. Thanks!!

    1. The floor tile we got at Lowes. It was actually on clearance because they were not going to carry it anymore 😕. I can take a picture of the box if you want? The grout is just a gray basic grout they had at Lowes.

    1. The walls are Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore. The shiplap was a custom color match. We brought a door from the vanity to our local BM dealer to have them match the color for consistency.

  6. Your bathroom looks beautiful! Quick question, how did you get
The side splash pieces? Did it come with the vanity? We purchased one from Costco and are doing a similar Reno but it didn’t come with matching side splash pieces (only the backsplash piece. Thanks!

    1. My husband called the company and asked for a second backsplash. I can’t remember what we paid for it. We took it to a local stone yard where we have gotten atone for other projects and they cut it for us.

  7. Absolutely love your vanity area makeover, all of it! I too would like the picture from the tile box if you still have it. It is exactly the color and texture I have been looking for. I would even use Luxury Vinyl Tile if it came in those colors. Great job!

  9. Your bathroom is a dream!i am obsessed! I am going to do shiplap in mine and was wondering what material did you use for yours? We’ve done shiplap in other areas with plywood but were wondering if for the bathroom it should’ve different due to water?

    1. Thank you!! We used primed shiplap from Lowes and then painted it once before putting it up and again after we had patched all the holes from the nail gun. I wanted to make sure it was definitely going to be water tight so we even painted the backs and the ends of the boards.

  10. Could you tell me what kind of countertop you used? I’m curious if it is granite, and if so, what is the color? It looks more solid, which is what I am looking for.

  12. Hello. I have been reading your comments to see what color your cabinets and shiplap are painted. I see it was a custom color. I’m trying to figure out what color to paint our cabinets and shiplap also. Do you think your color is more of an antique white? Also, what did you paint on your shiplap to make them moisture resistance. I’ve been using your remodel picture to remodel ours. I love it!

    1. Aww thanks!! Unfortunately I cannot post pictures in comments, but I do have a picture of the exact formula of the paint we used. Our vanity came painted white and we had the paint custom matched to that color so it wouldn’t look off. If you have white trim already in the room, you may want to match that color. I find when you have different shades of white in the same room, it can make some look dirty based on which is further from true white. But if they’re all the same color white, then you don’t have that issue. The paint we used is Benjamin Moore Eco Spec Silver, which has pure silver in the paint and other microbial additives to inhibit mildew growth on the paint surface. I’m no expert, but my Benjamin Moore guy IS. I never buy paint from big box stores. I go to my local BM guy and tell him exactly what I’m trying to do and he tells me what to use!

  14. Hello ! I found your bathroom on Pinterest and it is my inspiration for a bathroom redo we are doing currently. My husband installed this same shiplap on our walls but I do not see a clear line/definition between each shiplap board on my wall (I don’t like it as well as I like it in your picture). I hope that makes sense. Did you do anything specific or leave a space between the boards? It’s very hard to explain what I’m talking about. Lol. My husband says it fits in grooves but the boards are pushed together very tight 😦

    Like

    1. Hi! No we didn’t do anything to space them. The boards naturally had that gap. We did specifically space the bottom piece up from the vanity because I liked the look better than when the shiplap was tight to the vanity backsplash. If your boards don’t have any gap, you can use coins or other even shims to space them. To get the gap at the vanity we used one quarter and one dime.
